Digipak Analysis of an Indie Band

Arctic Monkeys - Suck It and See
The front cover of the the digipak is plain white and not very eye-catching which may suggest the band is cares only about selling the music not the image which is typical of indie artists. The albums title is in the centre of the page in a simple text which adds to the gritty indie image that the band is portraying, the words suck it and see may be seen as quite controversial to non-fans. The band's logo in the corner this is the only advertisement of the band and implies that the only way you will find out more about the band is to buy the album.

The back cover of the digipak still continues with the plain theme with the track list in the same simple black font as the title on the white/cream background, ans as expected the page also features the production company logo and the bands website.

Inside the digipak there is an image of the band standing in a field, there is a retro effect on the image to make it look quite old and something that you are more likely to see in your families photo album rather than from a professional photo shoot, this may be the band trying to convince their fans that they don't need to look 'pretty' because it is the songs that matter. The change in theme is also reflects on the title showing their fans that they have to test the product before forming an opinion on them. Inside the left sleeve there is a booklet that contains the songs lyrics and there are no images of them. Inside the right sleeve there is the CD inside a paper envelope which is an unusual presentation of the disc it implies that the CD is a gift as you have to keep opening things up to get to hear the music.
